SUMMIT, NJ & DUBLIN, IRELAND- October 8, 2009- Hibernia Atlantic, the only diverse transAtlantic submarine transport cable provider, today announces it has selected Sunesys, a provider of high-speed dark fiber optic networks, to further expand its Global Financial Network (GFN) into 1400 Federal in Carteret New Jersey. Sunesys is one of Hibernia's five New York metro dark fiber partners that help the transAtlantic cable company to deliver low latency, redundant capacity to financial firms. Additionally, this construction expansion over dark fiber into 1400 Federal further accelerates Hibernia Atlantic's connectivity to local and global banks and exchanges within the area. The announcement comes on the heels of the GFN's extension into two new data centers in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The move is another step in Hibernia Atlantic's strategy to partner with dark fiber providers to deliver reliable connectivity to financial customers in New York metro and beyond, bypassing major congestion points located within major metro city centers. This link into 1400 Federal is a highly desired route for financial exchange traffic from Chicago to Secaucus (bypassing Manhattan as necessary) and across the Atlantic Ocean to Slough, UK (bypassing London as necessary).
With five dark fiber providers across New York metro, 14 network Points of Presence (PoPs) now in this region, and 75 PoPs globally, Hibernia's GFN is one of the most resilient, reliable and fastest best-of-breed networks serving the financial community in the metropolitan area and beyond. Hibernia's GFN is layered over Hibernia Atlantic's diverse fiber optic network that reaches key financial cities including Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Stamford, Weehawken, Secaucus, Newark, White Plains, New York, Frankfurt, Reading, London and Slough.  Hibernia's GFN uniquely meets the demanding performance and reliability requirements of the global financial community, by providing fast, active service, low-latency and high performance network connectivity.
Hibernia's connection into 1400 Federal offers financial customers a full range of scalable services, including collocation, interconnection, support and monitoring. “We are delighted to partner with Hibernia Atlantic to provide customized converged dark fiber network solutions that meet the critical needs of financial customers in New York metro,” states Alan Katz, Sr. Vice President of Sunesys. “By leveraging Hibernia's secure, diverse footprint, more clients can benefit from a secure end-to-end solution, even across the Atlantic, as well as speed to market while realizing network cost savings. This is a further reflection of our commitment to the important New York metro market.”
“Sunesys is known for helping businesses move rapidly ahead by creating customized, converged dark fiber network solutions that encompass multiple locations and data centers, and by controlling the potentially crippling costs of escalating technology demands,” states Eric Gutshall, EVP of Sales and Marketing for Hibernia Atlantic. “Our partnership with Sunesys increases our access into key financial centers like 1400 Federal, and further provides ‘security through diversity' to financial customers.”
