An article on allAfrica.com is suggesting that broadband usage will soon overtake telephone subscribers on the African continent.  Africa, the continent with the highest ratio of total telephone subscribers of any region in the world, has a total of 280 million telephone subscribers, out of which over 85 percent are mobile cellular subscribers. However, the continent accounts for only seven percent of all fixed and mobile subscribers worldwide.  This could soon change thanks to submarine cables such as Main One and Glo-1.
