With Globacom and MainOne each landing submarine cables in Lagos and Ghana, African internet users are hoping that competition between the companies will improve broadband pricing for the region.  In a story on AllAfrica.com, it was announced that the MainOne Cable Company landed a shore-end in Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana over the weekend.   Glo-1 landed a shore-end in Lagos two weeks ago, and in Ghana last week.  These companies are set to go head-to-head in the growing African broadband market.

“The successful completion of our shore-end cable laying operations in Lagos and Accra, again signposts the seriousness with which this project is being executed and our commitment to ensuring that we deliver on our target completion date of June 2010,” said Funke Opeke, CEO of the Main One Cable Company.
