IT News Africa is reporting that the EASSy submarine cable system is still on track.  Neotel announced the system's progress at a recent meeting of the Management Committee in Zambia.  Eassy has 9 landing stations that are either ready or in the final stages of construction.  Those landing stations are located in Port Sudan, Djibouti, Mogadishu (Somalia), Mombasa (Kenya), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Moroni (Comoros), Toliary (Madagascar), Maputo (Mozambique) and Mtunzini (South Africa).
EASSy will begin installation at the shore end in Maputo, Mozambique in the coming weeks.
