Globe Telecom recently announced that its second fiber optic backbone network (FOBN2) has already been put into commission and is now fully operational according to an article on philstar.com.  FOBN2  spans over 1,900 kilometers of inland and submarine cable, covering most areas of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
