Main One Cable Company was presented with the Best Telecom Project of the year award at the African Telecom Hall of Fame Award held on the 5th of November 2010. The awards organized by IT Telecom and Digest magazine at the EKO hotel in Lagos recognized Main One for its outstanding and excellent contributions to the growth of telecoms in Africa.

Main One Cable Company is the first privately owned subsea cable company to commence operations in Nigeria. The project, which took approximately 3 years from inception, was completed on schedule and within budget – a ground breaking record achievement for a project of its scale and magnitude in Africa. Since the company launched its commercial operations in July, it has connected majority of the top tier operators in the telecoms industry who have begun to benefit from the world class service delivery and lower cost of international bandwidth capacity offered by Main One.

Main One Chief Executive, Ms Funke Opeke was also awarded the Telecom personality of the year in recognition of her vision to improve telecoms infrastructure on the continent and the remarkable landmark achievement of being the first to launch the privately owned subsea cable.
