The inauguration of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine fibre-optic cable landing station in Ghana and the opening of the Accra station has taken place n Accra.
ACE, a 17,000 kilometre-long cable stretching from France, through Portugal in Europe, to South Africa, connects 23 coastal countries, including Ghana, directly, and landlocked countries like Mali and Niger through terrestrial links.
Alcatel-Lucent and Tyco were the supply contractors for the US$700 million ACE project, the first to connect 7 African countries in a stretch, while Expresso-Dolphin will be the driving force behind the ACE submarine cable in West Africa.
