Georgian ISP Caucasus Online has signed a contract  with TE SubCom to perform a network upgrade to the Caucasus sub-sea cable system. The 1,200-kilometre regional system has been in service since 2008. The Caucasus Cable System was designed, manufactured and installed by TE SubCom.

The submarine system provides high bandwidth connectivity between Poti, Georgia and Balchik, Bulgaria, and serves Georgian markets by providing direct access to Western Europe. Utilising TE SubCom's 100 Gbps coherent transmission technology, the system can now support over 9 Tbps, more than seven times (7x) the initial design capacity. This latest upgrade will increase lit capacity to 780 Gbps.
