UK-based Denholm Shipping Company, part of the J & J Denholm Group, has established a new subsidiary, Denholm Offshore, to undertake submarine cable installation & maintenance contracts, primarily in shallow water.
The new company will focus on the planning, installation, burial and maintenance of power and telecoms cable and shore end services anywhere in the world. Denholm Offshore will also provide deep water route clearance and cable recovery services. Denholm Offshore has recruited Andrew Shaw and Chris Butler from General Offshore Ltd to run the business based in Milborne St Andrew in Dorset.
John Denholm, chief executive of J & J Denholm, said: “Shallow water cable operations are a natural extension of our business. We have been increasingly involved with submarine cable activities over recent years and, with increasing requirements, including those from offshore wind farms and other renewable sectors, this is both a logical step and great opportunity. I am delighted that we have been able to persuade Andy and Chris to join us. They have great experience in the business and have successfully delivered contracts throughout the world.. They are well known to us, as we have co-operated productively on contracts in the past”.
