Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding (OTMT) has agreed to concede submarine cables services supplying license in the Egyptian market in return for running the disrupted cable, paving the way to Telecom Egypt (TE) to monopolize submarine cables services in the domestic market, according to sources.
Telecom Egyptsigned an agreement with MENA submarine cable systems, a subsidiary of OTMT, under which MENA would use one fiber pair in TE's cable, located between its landing stations in Zaafarana on the Red Sea Coast and AbouTalat on the Mediterranean Coast.
Telecom Egypt has sold rights for the use of part of its infrastructure to MENA submarine cable systems of OTM, bringing the subsidiary closer to launching a submarine cable network.
