Any new, alternative cable routes out of Norway would be dependent either on public funding, or on financing from content providers such as Google, Facebook and Netflix. So said Bjorn Ronning, CEO of Midgardsormen AS, which is planning to build a transatlantic submarine cable, in an excerpt from an article on the Insidetelecom.no portal. He said security issues mean that the public purse should be involved.
