Sterling, Virginia – The Programme Committee, led by Dr. Stuart Barnes of Xtera (UK), has selected Marc-Richard Fortin of Globenet (USA) and Stephen Dawe of Vodafone (UK) as Co-Chairs of the SubOptic 2019 Papers Committee.
“We are delighted to welcome Marc-Richard and Stephen to this pivotal role for SubOptic 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. The wealth of experience and expertise that they bring will, no doubt, lead to the development of a full and diverse papers program” shared Dr. Barnes.
The submission guidelines for abstracts will be made available on the conference website (http://suboptic.org/conferences-events) during the second quarter of 2018.
The theme for SubOptic 2019 will be announced at PTC 2018 and will focus on the latest vision for subsea systems and their developing integration with terrestrial networks. SubOptic 2019 will take a more encompassing view of the submarine fiber industry than in previous years.
Contributions will examine the growing presence of the online content and cloud service giants; the arrival of data center firms as major partners in new cable systems; and the shift of the center of gravity to a more open world in which innovative technology rather than bandwidth growth will be the hallmark of industry change, bringing flexibility and fluidity to the interfaces with terrestrial networks.
