The submarine cable that will connect Brazil to Europe will also include Fernando de Noronha, taking the Brazilian island out of digital isolation. The cable project is a joint venture by Brazilian state-owned telecommunications infrastructure provider Telebras and Spain's IslaLink.

The government of the Brazilian region of Pernambuco has expressed its willingness to support investments for the connection of Fernando de Noronha island and has requested a formal proposal by IslaLink and Telebras to facilitate the agreement. There will be another meeting between the two parties in May, to go ahead with the partnership.
