Pacnet, Asia’s leading business telecommunications service provider, today announced the launch of Pacnet Virtual Private Server (VPS), its first Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution in its growing portfolio of cloud computing solutions.

“As organisations deploy increasingly demanding applications requiring more robust server environments, they are also recognising the high costs and resource requirements associated with building traditional server environments,” said Chris Wilson, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy and Management, Pacnet. “Pacnet VPS, our new IaaS service which is part of our broader cloud strategy, extends high-end computational, storage and networking assets to customers that require access to scalable, advanced server infrastructure, without the need for huge, upfront capital investment.”

“Australian businesses have shown that they are at the forefront of cloud computing and we have already seen some of them quickly recognising the value that Pacnet VPS delivers,” said Deborah Homewood, Chief Executive Officer of Pacnet Australia & New Zealand. “Their adoption of Pacnet VPS goes beyond just looking for cost savings as they realise that the service, along with our network and hosting infrastructure, allows them to minimise downtime, support their business continuity and disaster recovery plans, as well as host new services in a safe and secure environment.”

Pacnet VPS leverages Pacnet's extensive IP VPN network, and delivers high-performance and high-resiliency virtual servers that function just like physical servers. Built from industry-leading virtualisation software, servers, storage equipment and platforms, the service allows customers the flexibility to choose from four configurations – Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large – to match their compute and storage requirements. Customers also have a choice of either Microsoft Windows Server Standard or Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the operating system of the virtual server.

Optional features include a choice of backup services and additional Microsoft Business Application software licenses, which may also be included as part of the service package. The service is also offered on a monthly fee over flexible 6, 12, 24 or 36-month terms.

As with any Pacnet service, Pacnet VPS is supported by Pacnet’s technical support team with a history of service excellence.

Pacnet VPS is immediately available in Australia. Availability across other locations in Asia will be announced at a later date.
