AllAfrica.com is reporting that ALLIED Technologies (Altech) has seen share prices surge recently.  Profits from March through August were boosted thanks to what the company called “explosive” growth in broadband operations in east Africa.

Altech has increased its interest in Kenya Data Networks (KDN) by 10%.  KDN has been developing a terrestrial fibre network that will link two submarine cable systems, TEAMS and SEACOM, to landlocked countries in east and central Africa.  This association between Altech and KDN will enable Altech to become one of the largest bandwidth providers on the African continent.

“Our association with the undersea cables will reap rewards by year- end and is set to change the face of the Altech group,” said Craig Venter, CEO of Altech.
