(CNA) National Communications Commission (NCC) announced Wednesday that it has approved Chunghwa Telecom's (CHT) submarine cable project between Kinmen and Xiamen, which is expected to increase the telecommunications quality of both ends.  According to a Focus Taiwan article, the company said that when completed, it will be the first undersea cable for direct cross-Taiwan Strait telecommunications.
