MANILA – Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co (PLDT) will build a new international fiber optic cable to make its overseas links more resilient and enhance the quality of data and internet connections.
In a statement, PLDT today said it has partnered with Hong Kong-based PCCW Global to undertake the Asia-Africa-Europe 1 (AAE-1) Cable System, a 25,000-kilometer undersea cable network system that will connect Asia, the Middle East, East Africa, and Europe.
“The AAE-1 Cable System will provide network diversity and resiliency which is a great enabler in delivering quality service to our customers,” Napoleon L. Nazareno, PLDT president and chief executive said.
