TE SubCom entered into a contract to perform its third network upgrade to the South-East Asia Japan Cable (SJC) System. Using TE SubCom’s latest 100 Gbps transmission technology (C100U+), this third upgrade increases the capacity by 6.3 Tbps. The SJC System links Brunei, mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the Philippines. The upgrade of the 8,986 kilometres system increases capacity to meet the continued rising demand for businesses and communications in the Asia-Pacific region and will be completed by the end of June.The SJC consortium is composed of Brunei International Gateway Sendirian Berhad (BIG), China Mobile International (CMI), China Telecommunications (China Telecom), China Telecom Global (CTG), Donghwa Telecom (DHT) (a subsidiary of Chunghwa Telecom), Globe Telecom, Google, KDDI, Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel), PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin a subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia), and TOT Public (TOT).
