Submarine Cable System of SJC will connect Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and other Asian countries including Indonesia and will have the largest bandwidth capacity at a total of 17 Tbps and able to upgrade up to 23 Tbps.
Aside from TII, some of the international operators also joined in the SCJ Consortium such as Reliance Globalcom (via FLAG Pacific Limited Bermuda), Globe Telecom (Philippines), Google SJC Bermuda Ltd, KDDI (Japan), Network i2i (India), Singapore Telecommunications Ltd and Telemedia Pacific Inc., Ltd. (Hong Kong/Indonesia).
“Participation of TII in the SJC Consortium is a strategic step to strengthen the existing international infrastructure network,†explained President Director TII, Mulia P. Tambunan. The International Infrastructure is not only to support TELKOM Group business in fulfilling demand of international bandwidth dramatically increasing especially in supporting broadband applications such as internet, video, data, and other multimedia services, but also to use to fulfil other subscribers needs.
As estimated by Mulia P. Tambunan, growth of international bandwidth capacity need of TELKOM Group at end of 2014 will reach about 10 times the need of today. The SJC will complete and ready for operation in the first quarter of 2012. The innovative SCJ construction design will give additional international bandwidth capacity of TII at 960 Gbps to the capacity possessed by TII today with very good quality, faster connection and reliable diversity system.
