Hannon Armstrong Capital, LLC, Truestone, LLC and TE SubCom, an industry pioneer in undersea communications technology, today announced they have completed construction and commissioning of the HANTRU1 Cable System. The system, which connects Kwajalein in the Republic of the Marshall Islands to Guam, will provide regional and international connectivity in the previously underserved Pacific region, via undersea fiber connections.

“We’re very pleased with TE SubCom’s successful and on time implementation of the HANTRU1 system,” said Scott Foster, Hannon Armstrong. “After many years of planning, it’s a delight to see the project come to fruition and provide critical services to its customers.”

HANTRU1 stretches 2,917 kilometers and provides 20 Gbps installed capacity on two fiber pairs, with an ultimate capacity of 160 Gbps. In addition to connecting Kwajalein to Guam, HANTRU1 also supports separate cable systems for Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia.

“We very much appreciate the collaborative effort of all of our partners over the past several years to bring the state-of-the-art system to completion,” said Jack Littley, President of Truestone.

HANTRU1 is owned by Hannon Armstrong Capital, LLC and operated by Truestone, LLC.

“SubCom is pleased to have completed the construction of HANTRU1 according to schedule,” said Jim Olson, Director Global System Sales, TE SubCom. “The advanced technology we deployed in the system will undoubtedly help foster growth in the region well into the future.”
