IT MIGHT not be a silver bullet, but the plans to bring an undersea broadband cable ashore on the Coast have received a ringing endorsement.
Federal Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull touched down at the Sunshine Coast Airport yesterday to see firsthand the Coast's economic potential and to discuss a number of projects, including the NBN and undersea cable.
It wasn't just the submarine plans that came in for praise from the Minister.
The growing start-up culture and our potential as a future technology hub impressed the experienced politician.
“This is clearly humming, and innovation is very important,” Mr Turnbull said.
“You've got proximity to a university. You've got a lot of very creative people, a phenomenal lifestyle – the importance of that should not be underestimated.
“I'm very struck by the culture of innovation here on the Sunshine Coast.”
