Senate President, David Mark, will today at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, inaugurate for commercial use, Glo 1, the multi-million dollar international submarine cable built by leading telecoms operator, Globacom according to allAfrica.com.  The ceremony is expected to be attended by several state governors, including Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos; Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State; Olagunsoye Oyinlola ofâ-‚ Osun State and Gbenga Daniel of Ogunâ-‚ State.  According to a statement made available to THISDAY yesterday, the 9,800 kilometre-long Glo 1 cable which Globacom built singlehanded is the first such facility which connects Nigeria and 13 other West African countries directly to the United Kingdom with a dedicated extension to the United States of America.
