Several submarine cable projects have applied for broadband stimulus grants according to an article on arstechnica.com.  With the deadline drawing near, the Obama administration has announced that it is fast-tracking their schedule in order to dole out over $7 billion in stimulus funds.  The US government has provided a searchable database of applications, and among those listed are the Kodiak-Kenai Cable Company, LLC and the Aleutian Fiber Connection, both of whom are applying for stimulus funds to build submarine cable systems in Alaska.
