Landline telephone network operator Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) has set aside $55-million for a fibre-optic network that will be linked to similar networks in Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa according to Engineering News

“By the end of August, we want to see our fibre-optic cable connected to these four countries and, by December, our ?target is to be connected to the rest of the world through the Eassy and Seacom undersea cables,” says MTL CEO Peter Zimmer.
