APTelecom, a facilities-based telecom consulting and service company specializing in emerging markets, today announced the addition of Pacific Fibre to its growing roster of submarine cable pre-sales consulting clients. As part of the engagement, APTelecom will be tasked with managing a significant portion of the pre-sales efforts for Pacific Fibre's soon-to-be-constructed subsea cable system.
Expected to go live in 2014, the Pacific Fibre cable will be one of the longest and most technically advanced cable systems. The cable system will link Los Angeles directly to Auckland, New Zealand, and then continue to Sydney, Australia via a trans-Tasman link and will offer the fastest route from Australia and New Zealand to the United States. With an initial design speed of 10.2Tbps using 40Gbps technology, it will have the largest forecast capacity of any cable in the region.
“APTelecom is currently supporting system builds in the Atlantic, Pacific, Southeast Asian & Polar regions,” said Sean Bergin, Co-Founder of APTelecom. “It is encouraging to see the continued development of systems occurring in every corner of the globe and we are delighted to be an integral part of that process. Our global sales channel model is proving popular with clients and customers alike, due to the efficiencies and effectiveness it delivers.”
“We are very pleased to be working with APTelecom. Over the last few months, they have been helping us build our sales pipeline and have introduced us to new customers, particularly in the United States,” said Mark Rushworth, CEO of Pacific Fibre. “The Pacific Fibre cable will introduce a more competitive market for international bandwidth in Australasia and will help the NBN and UFB to deliver on the promise of vastly better connectivity.”
The Pacific Fibre announcement is just one of many unique ways in which APTelecom is addressing the subsea cable market. At this year's International Telecoms Week (ITW) in Chicago, APTelecom will be holding a data gathering meeting which will enable potential buyers of capacity to get first-hand knowledge direct from manufacturers and system builders on the status of various systems that it represents. The meeting will be taking place on Wednesday, May 16th, from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, East Tower, Columbus KL.
