The Board of Directors of Brazilian state-owned telecommunications infrastructure provider Telebras approved the agreement creating a joint venture with IslaLink to lay an undersea cable linking Brazil and Europe, reports Telesintese. The deal must still be evaluated by regulatory bodies and agencies. The partnership was announced in January. Under the agreement announced at the time, Telebras will have 35 percent and IslaLink a 45 percent stake in the venture. The rest would be held by investment funds.
