Live Trading News is reporting that the laying of a submarine fiber optic cable linking Cuba and Venezuela will start in January 2011, a Cuban official said Monday. Waldo Reboredo, Vice President of Telecommunications Gran Caribe SA, the Joint Venture running the project, said the cost of the investment would exceed US$70M and the cable would have a life span of 25 yrs.
