There is a treasure at the bottom of the sea, only partially buried, and it can be right off the Oregon coast. Fiber optic cables may not have the romantic allure of Spanish doubloons, but they do offer a variety of riches. Nick Edwards, with the Bandon Submarine Cable Council, is currently aboard a 465-foot cable response ship. The Wave Venture is surveying the AT&T U.S.-China cables that start off on the beach close to Whiskey Run, just south of Cape Arago.
