Google, the Internet giant, climaxed its two-day workshop in Monrovia last Friday with the company pledging mentorship as well as financial and technical support to three group-winners of an online business development exercise which was part of the workshop according to Daily Observer. Â Several limitations do exist for the success of online businesses in Liberia, the greatest of them being the inability to make fiscal transactions online, bandwidth constraints, as well as the lack of reliable electricity, in the case of hosting online applications locally. With Liberia having signed onto the African Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine fiber-optic cable, which will connect the country to direct broadband Internet by the year 2012, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
