KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) — Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has signed a construction and maintenance agreement with Time DotCom Bhd's unit, TT dotCom Sdn Bhd (TTdC), to develop and construct a new submarine cable system, Sistem Kabel Rakyat 1Malaysia (SKR1M).
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, TM said the agreement was to establish the rules which governed the implementation and management of SKR1M.
“Upon the signing of the agreement, TM and TTdC are now ready to move to the next step of the SKR1M cable system project.
“The duration of the agreement is 20 years or will expire upon the retirement of SKR1M, whichever is earlier,” it said.
It said TM and TTdC will also commit to operate and maintain the SKR1M network for the lifetime of the cable system including funding the cable fault repairs.
