Alcatel-Lucent is upgrading and expanding the existing transport infrastructure of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE SA), Greece's leading service provider, as part of projects valued at more than Euro 12 million.
Alcatel-Lucent's optical solutions currently under implementation will support OTE's program to extend the distribution of high-speed services in major urban and regional areas.
Alcatel-Lucent has undertaken the upgrade of OTE's existing optical backbone routes – already based on Alcatel-Lucent's next-generation synchronous digital hierarchy (NG-SDH) and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technologies, the upgrade of the submarine links between Bari – Italy and Corfu – Greece, as well as the rollout of new optical multi-service rings throughout Greece.
“The advanced flexibility, aggregation capabilities and scalability offered by our optical solutions will help OTE accomplish its market objectives” said Frederic Rose, President of Alcatel-Lucent's activities in Europe, Africa and Asia.
The Alcatel-Lucent solution is based on its 1626 Light Manager (LM), 1678 Metro Core Connect (MCC) and Optical Multi-Service Node (OMSN) systems. Furthermore, Alcatel-Lucent is providing a comprehensive range of network integration and support services, including installation and commissioning, maintenance and training.
