WFN Strategies has been selected by Mid-State Consultants of Honolulu, Hawaii to provide system permitting and environmental monitoring support for the new Broadband Linking American Samoa Territory (BLAST) submarine telecoms cable system.

BLAST is a planned 350 km unrepeatered submarine cable with landing points at Fogagogo, Tu’tuila, Ofu Harbor, Ofu, Luma, Ta’u, Aunu’u Warf and Aunu’u in American Samoa.  The BLAST submarine cable system has an RFS of 2015.

Since August 2014, WFN Strategies has been working to secure from the US Army Corps of Engineers applicable permitting for the BLAST system. Recently, the company was further contracted to work as an independent environmental observer for the installation of BLAST system shore-ends, prepared to determine mitigation requirements and observe installation operations in accordance with permit requirements.

“We are once again excited to extend our continued support of the BLAST inter-island submarine cable project,” said WFN Strategies Managing Director, Wayne Nielsen.  “We look forward to supporting this system to its final completion this year.”
