In a bid to develop a more connected Asia and Europe, 12 Asian telecommunications companies and two European companies incorporated in the Southeast Asia consortium — Middle East — Western Europe 5 signed on March 7, 2014 a joint work contract for the construction of the International Submarine Cable System linking Southeast Asia andEurope.

Among the 12 Asian companies is a subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International, better known as Telin, which is getting a firmer foothold in carrying out Telkom Group’s mandate to develop its international business.

Telin was represented by its president, Sharif Ahmed Syarial when signing the joint contract with other representatives of the consortium, known as SEA-ME-WE 5, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
