Pacnet today announced that the company’s Board of Directors has appointed Carl J. Grivner as Chief Executive Officer, effective 23 July 2012.

Mr Grivner brings to Pacnet 23 years of executive and leadership experience, including 12 years of Chief Executive Officer experience in XO Communications, Worldport Communications, Cable & Wireless plc (Western Hemisphere) and Advanced Fibre Communications. He also brings along a global perspective and extensive international experience, having held leadership roles in North and Central America, Europe and Asia. Mr Grivner will be based in Singapore.

Mr Grivner was most recently CEO of XO Communications, a leading telecommunications company in the United States, where he grew revenues over 50% to $1.5 billion. He transformed XO Communications from a local exchange carrier to a national carrier by growing the Enterprise customer segment and by developing and implementing a new broadband and data/IP strategy business model. He also led the successful acquisition and integration of Allegiance Telecom, achieving $180 million in synergies in 16 months.

Prior to XO Communications, Mr Grivner was Chief Operating Officer of Global Crossing, CEO of Worldport Communications, CEO of Cable & Wireless plc (Western Hemisphere) where he headed North American operations, and CEO of Advanced Fibre Communications. He has also held various senior management positions in Ameritech and IBM.
