Algiers — Minister of Post and Information and Communication Technologies, Iman Houda Feraoun, announced Monday the commissioning in February 2017 of the new submarine cable “Oran-Valence.”
“The submarine cable linking Oran to Valencia (Spain), an Additional support to foster high speed Internet in Algeria, will be operational in February 2017 under the agreement concluded for the purpose,” Feraoun said in an interview with APS.
The “cable which will be supported by a second cable will highly contribute to fulfill the ministry commitment to make of 2016, a year of gradual cut in internet fees and increase of speed, by preventing possible internet disconnection as was the case last year due to the deterioration of “Annaba-Marseille” sub-marine cable, added the minister.
