Telefonica del Sur will accelerate its FTTH network deployment this year. Telefonica has selected NSW for the deployment of a submarine fiber-optic cable. The contract is worth around USD 10 mln, Valor Futuro reports, citing Telefonica del Sur CEO Fernando Soro. Telefonica has launched operations in the Chilean city of Los Angeles in January, and the fiber network already covers the cities of Concepcion, Talcahuano, Hualpen, Chiguayante and communities such as Penco and Coronel. Telefonica del Sur plans to expand its network to cover the entire Patagonia region of Chile, Soro said.
