It is one of the sad-but-true facts of business that what you build, or make, may be absolutely critical to the survival of a hugely successful or important industry, but you yourself don't really make much money off it. Prices of potatoes have jumped sharply in recent weeks, but rest assured that the farmer who actually plants and harvests it will get a small percentage of the final price you pay, with middlemen capturing the rest.
