FirstPath, an Australian privately owned fibre optic access network, will lay a new high capacity submarine fibre optic cable across the Sydney Harbour. According to the manufacturer Prysmian, this is the biggest and most dense submarine fibre optic cable Prysmian manufactured of such a high quality and for this purpose.

Prysmian engineering teams specifically designed the cable for the project and its Western Sydney plant manufactured this product. This construction project is needed to meet accelerating FirstPath's demand for its Residential, Business, Enterprise and Government services and is designed to deliver benefits including lower latency and exponentially more connectivity options to the internet, datacentres and private links between sites. With FirstPath’s existing “land based” infrastructure on both shorelines, its resellers are able to receive active services off this crossing within two weeks from 2 June.
