By Apollo
Apollo is pleased to announce the award of a supply contract to Alcatel-Lucent to upgrade Apollo North and Apollo South Transatlantic systems. This upgrade will increase Apollo’s equipped capacity by more than 400Gbit/s and is incremental to the upgrade of 1Tbit/s on Apollo South in 2008.
This addition of SDH and LAN PHY capable channels allows Apollo to support customer growth into 2010.
Initially constructed with a design capacity of 6.4Tbit/s, currently installed technologies allow Apollo to be upgraded to in excess of 10 Tbit/s.
Richard Elliott, managing director of Apollo said ‘ During the last year trans atlantic capacity demand has remained strong throughout the economic down turn. It remains Apollo’s goal to support this growth and to continue to develop the scale and capability of our product to maintain our position as a leading provider of international network.â€
