A contractor which is upgrading internet cables in Papua New Guinea to improve speed and reduce high internet costs in the country said work is progressing well. Interchange CEO Simon Fletcher said that work on the Melanesian Cable Solution was on track and set to be completed by June, The National reported. This followed a deal signed between PNG DataCo and the Vanuatu firm for USD 72 million in October 2014. DataCo is taking a 75 percent stake in this investment.
