The US has adopted a series of changes in its telecoms policy towards Cuba. According to a White House statement, the measures aim to help bridge the gap among divided Cuban families and promote the freer flow of information and humanitarian items towards Cuban citizens. The new policy authorizes US telecommunications network providers to enter into agreements to establish fibre-optic cable and satellite telecommunications facilities linking the US and Cuba, and enter into roaming service agreements with Cuba's telecommunications service providers.
