NEC forecast a return to net profit in the current year after falling into the red for the fiscal year to March 2009. The net loss totalled JPY 296.6 billion last year, versus a profit of JPY 22.7 billion a year earlier, hurt by lower sales, restructuring and impairment charges and losses on investments. Revenues tumbled 8.7 percent to JPY 4.216 trillion, and the operating result moved to a loss of JPY 6.2 billion versus a profit of JPY 156.8 billion.
