Docomo Pacific has announced it has achieved an important milestone in deploying the ATISA submarine cable by completing the marine surveys of the undersea path leading to the cable landing sites on Guam, Saipan, Rota, and Tinian, which is the next step in the route selection process. The selection process was a joint team effort by representatives from NEC, Duenas, Camacho and Associates (DCA), and Docomo Pacific.
UK-based Titan Environmental Surveys, a division of Gardline Marine Sciences, conducted the inshore and deep water surveys using their vessel, the M/V Duke. Proposed landing sites and associated cable routes on each island were selected in accordance with environmental regulations and logistical requirements. Following the completion of inshore and offshore pre-surveys in late June, a closer inspection of the route was conducted in early July, by highly qualified and independent professional divers, who followed the intended routes to document any potential environmental impacts.
