The Isles of Scilly are to receive a superfast broadband connection thanks to a £3.7m project which reuses undersea cables. The fibre optic cables were initially part of a data communications network connecting Spain with the UK and Ireland but are now lying unused on the seabed of the Atlantic Ocean. In order to forge the new connection a cable ship will spend around a month cutting and moving two of the cables.
