Business Day is reporting that Tata Communications has signed up to be the first major customer of the Seacom cable. Â The deal calls for Tata to mange the cable, its customer relations and its billing systems. Â Tata owns 56% of Neotel, a telecoms operator which is now poised to become the anchor tenant on the cable, able to deliver cheap bandwith to South Africa. Â Neotel is already signed to managed Seacom's Mtunzini landing station. Â Finally, Tata is slated to land the cable in Mumbai, connecting the cable to Marseilles when Seacom reaches France and India.
