Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Malaysia's leading integrated information and communications group recently signed a partnership agreement with Global Crossing, a leading global IP solutions provider to join Global Crossing's Global Partner Program (GPP). At the signing ceremony to signify the collaboration between the two companies held in conjunction with Capacity Asia 2009 in Kuala Lumpur recently, Global Crossing was represented by Ricky Chau, Vice President, Carrier Services and General Manager, Asia while Azmal Yahya, Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing, Global, represented TM.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mohamad Rozaimy Abdul Rahman, Executive Vice President, Global, TM said, “Participation in the Global Partner Program has allowed us to extend our capabilities beyond the Asia Pacific region to meet the needs of our enterprise clients which have customers all around the globe. These new services will provide our clients with global reach, control and operating efficiency.”

The program will enable TM to expand the availability of its Converged IP and Private Line services to Europe and the Americas.  With TM's Converged IP services, business and enterprise customers can imply the carriage of different types of traffic including voice, data and images over a single IP network. Using the same platform, customers will be able to enjoy seamless connectivity for any application to any part of the world by having “one-stop solution”.

Meanwhile, TM's Private Line offers a dedicated, point-to-point cross border connectivity utilizing TM's extensive submarine cable capacity throughout the world including Asia Pacific Cable Network 2 (APCN2), South East Asia – Middle East – Western Europe Cable System 4 (SMW4), South East Asia – Middle East – Western Europe Cable System 3 (SMW3) as well as the Asia-America Gateway Cable System (AAG) which will be operational soon..

Global Crossing's Global Partner Program gives regional service providers the benefits of global reach, service expansion, reduced time-to-market and the ability to build a network or add service capabilities without significant investment. It enables providers to offer voice, video and data services to customers who may be out-of-region and gives providers a way to increase revenue by providing value-added services to customers in multiple markets.

“We're very pleased to have TM join our Global Partner Program,” said Omar Altaji, Global Crossing's Managing Director, Worldwide Carrier Services.  “As TM's business clients take advantage of globalization and IP convergence market trends, they can benefit from TM's support model, strong regional presence and the global seamless network enabled by Global Crossing's IP infrastructure.”

With the collaboration, TM joins an exclusive list of top-tier service providers in the Global Partner Program, offering Global Crossing Fast-Track ServicesTM portfolio to their enterprise end users. Global Crossing Fast-Track Services combine the business processes, products, services and system tools necessary for service providers to quickly offer their enterprise customers end-to-end global data solutions, backed by consistent SLAs. In addition to Converged IP Services and Private Line, Fast-Track Services include Ethernet, Collaboration and Managed Services. The portfolio can help service providers avoid the costly expenditures and long lead times generally associated with service expansion. It also can help drive incremental revenue for a carrier by helping it provide additional opportunities to enterprise customers that need out-of-region IP-based solutions.

The service delivers appropriate levels of latency, jitter and packet loss to ensure the successful concurrent handling of multiple types of traffic, especially voice and video.
