Australian data center firm DXN is to supply a prefabricated cable landing station (CLS) to an unnamed company in South America.
The company announced the AU$5.3 million (US$3.79m) deal this week, saying the module was for a “global Internet company.”
The module will be developed at DXN’s manufacturing site in Perth, Western Australia. Construction will commence immediately, and commissioning is currently scheduled for Q1 2027.
The deal is DXN’s first module deployed to Latin America. The unnamed buyer is described as a “repeat customer.”
Shalini Lagrutta, managing director of DXN, said: “This contract is a significant milestone for DXN, marking our entry into the Latin American market and highlighting our capability to win and deliver complex, mission-critical infrastructure for some of the world's largest technology companies.”
She continued: “Cable landing stations are a growing and highly specialised segment of the modular data center market, and we have invested significant engineering effort in developing a solution that genuinely meets the exacting requirements of subsea cable operators. We look forward to delivering this project on schedule and to the highest quality standards, and to building on this relationship as our customer continues its global infrastructure expansion.”
DXN said it has delivered more than 100 modular data centers to date. Customers include logistics firm DP World, AngloAmerican, gold miner Newcrest in New South Wales, Stanmore Coal, as well as Boeing, Covalent Lithium, Pilbara Minerals, and satellite firm Globalstar.
The company has previously delivered cable landing station modules to Sub.co on the Cocos (Keeling) Islands for the Oman – Australia Cable and to the island of Palau for the Meta/Google-led Echo subsea cable. It was also the CLS provider for the East Micronesia Cable System (EMCS), and last year announced it was to deliver one to consulting firm APTelecom for an unnamed “international digital infrastructure project.”
