LD Armateurs Takes Delivery of TVO Mariner

A mid-September fleet handover brought the DP2 vessel TVO Mariner into LD Armateurs in mid-September for its subsidiary LD TravOcean, according to a September 24 company release. LD TravOcean specializes in subsea cable installation and protection. LD Armateurs says the vessel will support telecommunications cable work, cable repairs and offshore wind projects, adding capacity for projects that require work at sea. The release confirms the vessel’s entry into the fleet but does not identify its first assignment.

Built in 2011 to Norwegian design standards, TVO Mariner is 88.3 meters long and has a deck capacity of about 2,500 tons. Its 950-square-meter working deck provides space for subsea equipment, while accommodation is available for up to 70 people. The vessel has dynamic positioning, an optimized hull and propulsion system, and noise and vibration controls. Together, those specifications describe the platform LD Armateurs is adding to its specialized fleet; the company has not announced how it will be configured for a particular cable job.

LD Armateurs says TVO Mariner strengthens its ability to deliver integrated projects from mobilization through execution and completion. Equipment available to support that work includes Rovjets, mechanical trenchers, remotely operated vehicles and deep-water ROVs. For submarine cable projects, the combination of a working vessel and subsea tools is relevant to installation, protection and repair, although the release does not assign the vessel to any one of those activities first. The addition broadens the resources available to LD TravOcean as it serves both communications and offshore wind customers.

The vessel is set to use France's international registry, with LD Armateurs seafarers providing the crew. LD Armateurs will handle technical and ship management, while LD TravOcean teams will conduct subsea operations. That division of responsibilities sets out how the group intends to manage the vessel and its project work. Delivery and fleet entry are the confirmed developments; LD Armateurs has not provided a contract, route, mobilization date or first deployment. The next operational milestone will therefore depend on an assignment the company has yet to disclose.
