Fiber internet service provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has completed linking Visayas and Mindanao to its national fiber backbone via its P6 Billion submarine cable project.

On Wednesday, April 28, the company landed its submarine cables in Cagayan de Oro for the final connection after another landing in the Visayas earlier, through San Remigio, Cebu.

Converge is likewise linking other islands in the Visayas region such as Panay, Negros, Leyte, and Bohol to its national backbone.

“We are looking forward to firing up our fiber broadband services in Visayas and Mindanao so that we can soon provide the unserved and underserved areas in central and southern Philippines with world-class internet connectivity,” Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said.

Converge brings the broadband technologies of market leaders like South Korea and Singapore in its national fiber backbone project.

On the other hand, it has sourced its fiber optic submarine cables from French supplier Nexans Group and its active optical equipment, from various global suppliers.“We are partnering with the best in the world to bring the latest technologies to the country,” stressed Converge COO Jesus Romero.

“We aim to run 400Gbps waves on our national backbone to provide customers with better internet experience when many are staying inside their homes, not just for entertainment but also for work and online classes,” he elaborated.
