Henox Crest to break India’s two-gateway dependence with a new carrier-neutral coastal submarine network
A new coastal cable system will open multiple carrier-neutral landing hubs along India’s coastline — reducing concentration risk, strengthening national resilience, and adding the connectivity India’s AI and data-centre economy demands. APTelecom engaged as strategic technical and commercial partner.
Gandhinagar, India — 12th October, 2026 — Today, almost all of India’s international internet capacity comes ashore at just two gateways. As the country stakes its economic future on AI, cloud and hyperscale data centres, that concentration has become one of the most significant risks to its digital backbone. Henox IT and Data Centers today unveiled Henox Crest, a high-capacity coastal submarine cable system designed to change that — opening a series of new, carrier-neutral landing hubs along India’s coastline and giving the nation the geographic diversity a digital economy of its scale requires.
Henox Crest is a carrier-neutral coastal digital infrastructure corridor connecting key digital and international gateways across Gujarat, Mangaluru, Kochi, Chennai and Visakhapatnam. Each landing becomes an open point of presence where operators can connect their networks, exchange traffic and build new subsea and terrestrial systems — turning a single point of concentration into a distributed, resilient backbone.
Henox’s vision extends beyond subsea cable. The company plans an integrated ecosystem of submarine cables, terrestrial networks, edge data centres and strategic compute infrastructure along the Crest corridor, bringing connectivity and compute closer to emerging demand centres and enabling low-latency access to AI, cloud, enterprise and digital services.
“Henox Crest is a milestone for India’s digital infrastructure. Henox Crest is designed to create a high-speed coastal backbone that both powers the AI era and diversifies how India connects to the world — carrier-neutral, open to all, and creating new hubs where operators can build. This is nation-building infrastructure that will help power India’s AI growth for decades to come,”
— Shaktivel K, Chief Executive Officer, Henox IT and Data Centers
By creating multiple new carrier-neutral landing points rather than concentrating traffic at a handful of established ones, Crest is built to reduce single points of failure, strengthen national resilience and give carriers, hyperscalers and enterprises genuine route diversity at a time when high-profile subsea cable disruptions have put connectivity resilience firmly on the global agenda. In doing so, the Crest is designed to be more than a robust network but a platform for the next generation of India’s cable-landing ecosystem.
In the west, building on Henox’s presence in Gujarat, Crest’s western hub will act as a focal point for data centres, hyperscalers and financial institutions, with onward connectivity extending to the UAE, the Middle East, Europe and Africa. In the east, Visakhapatnam will anchor onward routes towards Singapore, Malaysia and the United States positioning India not simply as a destination, but as a bridge between some of the world’s most important digital markets.
Henox has partnered with APTelecom as its strategic technical and commercial partner, supporting the project across strategic planning, commercial development, ecosystem engagement and international partnerships.
“India is one of the world’s most important digital infrastructure markets, and Henox Crest creates the kind of connectivity platform needed to support its next phase of growth. We are proud to partner with Henox on a project that has the potential to reshape how digital infrastructure is built and connected across India,”
